ABDO College is pleased to announce that Optical Assistant Practical Skills workshop days are now available to all sector colleagues, not just those studying on the Optical Assistant training programme.

The workshops consist of a day at the ABDO National Resource Centre in Birmingham where tailored sessions to the OA role allow students to:

• learn basic frame repairs and adjustments
• discuss differing patient/prescription scenarios and their possible solutions
• experience simulations of the visual symptoms suffered by patients with common eye diseases or conditions
• learn about the common “red eye” conditions and who can help support those patients in practice

Workshops run from 9am until 5pm and lunch is included for all students.

Pricing

Attendance of a Practical Skills Workshop day is included (but not mandatory) for all students currently studying our Optical Assistant programme, however, anyone from optical practice is welcome to attend to benefit from the sessions being run. The cost of the workshop day is £150.

Due to using small group sizes, places are limited so booking in advance is highly recommended and a requirement. It is not possible to attend without booking in advance.
