ABDO College students pick up prizes at the 2025 Graduation

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) celebrated the graduation of dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians at Canterbury Cathedral on Tuesday 20 May.

The annual ceremony is a time-honoured tradition where graduands approach the dais one by one to be congratulated by the ABDO professional qualifications director, Miranda Richardson.

Prizes were awarded to students and graduates for the best achievements and top marks in exams supported by industry sponsors.

The following prizes were awarded to ABDO College students:

The Essilor Prize Awarded to Lydia Pateman, for the highest combined mark in units 1 and 2 of the Preliminary Qualifying Examination.

The Millmead Optical Group Prize Awarded to Razvan-Vasile Cucuruzan and Amy Wealleans, for the highest mark in section C of the Final Qualifying Practical Examination.

The Rodenstock Prize Awarded to Samuel Blick, for the highest mark in section D of the practical Final Qualifying Examination.

The OSA Award for Excellence Awarded to Razvan-Vasile Cucuruzan, for the highest UK student mark in the Final Qualifying Examination.

The British Contact Lens Association Prize Awarded to Kirsten Mason, for the highest aggregate mark in the theory examination, Certificate in Contact Lens Practice.

The Bailey Prize Awarded to Kirsten Mason, for the highest mark in the Certificate in Contact Lens Practice.

The Johnson & Johnson Prize Awarded to Kirsten Mason, for the best candidate in the practical examination, Certificate in Contact Lens Practice.

The Association of Contact Lens Manufacturers Prize Awarded to Kirsten Mason, for the highest mark in sections 2, 3, and 4 of the practical examination, Certificate in Contact Lens Practice.

The Contamac Prize Awarded to Matilda Oldham, as the best student on the Contact Lens Distance Learning Course.

Many ABDO College students and their families were in attendance.

ABDO College tutors and principal proudly watch as their former students received their handshake and graduated.
