Revision workshops “a great success”
Our recent revision workshops at ABDO’s very own conference and events venue, the National Resource Centre (NRC) in Birmingham, were a great success. Both students and leaders praised the content and smooth running of the sessions. These were the first College face-to-face revision workshops at the NRC.
Lecturer Chris Levett said: “The organisation and content of the revision workshops was praised by students for giving reassurance and enhancing their practise of the skills required. Students directly communicated how useful it was that we adapted sessions to their specific needs.
Sessions with Dean Dunning, ABDO’s head of qualifications, were a highlight, he added. Students were able to ask specific questions of an experienced examiner about what happens on the day.
“It was a pleasure to observe and revisit students’ progress after being part of their introduction to the practical skills required on block.
“The hard work they have put in practising these skills is obvious, clearly demonstrated by their ability to complete the tasks accurately and promptly in the sessions.”
Bill Carroll, who studied for his contact lens qualifications at ABDO College more than a decade ago, said: “Attending my first revision day at the ABDO National Resource Centre was an exceptionally positive experience. I was particularly impressed by the high quality facilities, supportive staff and access to advanced equipment.
“Most rewarding, however, was witnessing the learners’ enthusiasm and growing confidence as they became more comfortable in the environment.
“Their time in the refraction suite was especially valuable, allowing them to familiarise themselves with the equipment they will use on exam day – an experience that clearly enhanced both their skills and self confidence.”
